Improves Heart Health and Fights Cancer?

There is some exciting recent research that shows antioxidants found in the pomegranate inhibited cancer cell growth and slowed the progression of breast cancer and prostate cancer. Studies have also indicated that antioxidants found in pomegranate juice provide a cardio-protective effect. Drinking it regularly is said to reduce atherosclerosis, which is harding of the arteries, lower blood pressure, and lower cholesterol.

Nitric Oxide:

Pomegranates are high in nitrates which have a positive effect on athletic performance. This is a good thing for the human body while training.

According to a study in the National Center for Biotechnology Information, pomegranate supplementation accelerated recovery of muscle damage, inflammatory markers, and soreness in weight lifters. The study investigated the effect of pomegranate juice supplementation on performance, muscle soreness, and indications of muscle damage after a weightlifting lifting.

They tested nine elite weightlifters after drinking a placebo or pomegranate juice. They found that in the group that had pomegranate juice had increased performance capacities and reduced post workout soreness. After the study they suggested that elite weightlifters use natural pomegranate juice during intensive training to accelerate muscle recovery.
